What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained, NON-medical professional who provides support throughout various reproductive experiences, such as birth, loss, and adoption. They offer the necessary information and emotional backing to help individuals make informed decisions, acting as a coach, advocate, and friend during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Doula vs. Midwife

Doulas and midwives have different roles. Midwives are medical providers who perform tasks like cervical checks and deliver babies, while doulas offer emotional and physical support. Together, they make a great team!

3.

Are Doulas just for "Natural" births?

The answer is no; you deserve continuous support regardless of your birthing choice. I advocate for your preferences, provide information, prepare your partner, and assist in discussions with your provider about medical interventions. My role extends beyond labor support to include assistance throughout your pregnancy and immediate postpartum period.
